Celebration of Mama

I recently went to Fit4Mom Redlands & Yucaipa event for the annual Celebration of Mama. Stroller Strides was the class that was on the schedule for the day of the event. We had cloud cover and cooler than average temps, so it made for a nice day to be outside for a workout. If you’re not sure what Stroller Strides is, click here for more info. Let me tell you, I “technically” wasn’t even participating in the class, but I got a good workout! I ran and jogged as fast as I could to get ahead of all the moms, to try and capture the class in a true and authentic way.
Meet the Owner
Fit4Mom Redlands & Yucaipa was opened in 2016 by Lauren Gillmore. As new mother, she struggled with having to go back to work full-time. I asked Lauren to tell me how Fit4Mom Redlands & Yucaipa came to be.
“I started FIT4MOM after having a rough 9 months back to work post baby. I like to say that I had an “epiphany” at my desk working in an accounting office. There had to be something I could do that pertained to my Kinesiology (Exercise Science) degree AND be able to stay at home with my baby. My friend and I were both pregnant at the same time, and she came across a Groupon for FIT4MOM Riverside’s class, Fit4Baby. While sitting at work, I recalled taking that class. It sparked an interest in me so I searched FIT4MOM online and saw that there was no franchise in Redlands/Yucaipa. From then on I went through the process of learning more about owning a franchise, and here I am!”
Joining a Village
Lauren has provided local mama’s from the Redlands & Yucaipa area with a village that allows them to feel welcomed, included, supported, and loved during whatever stage of motherhood they are in. I always feel so honored to be able to support other local businesses, but especially, Mom run businesses. The saying, “We rise by lifting others” is so true. I can think of no better quote for Lauren and her village of Moms. How many of us have finally decided to start working out again, only to find it’s not that easy once baby has arrived. The moment you start to sweat and burn those calories, your baby cries, or your toddler needs something. A few minutes in, you’re ready to give up out of sheer frustration. We’ve all been there. With no one there for accountability or support, it’s so easy to skip woking out for the day. And nothing makes getting through a workout easier, than doing it with friends. Fit4Mom Redlands & Yucaipa gives their mama’s just that. Community, support, friendship , and understanding. You don’t have to pay for childcare, or worry about your little ones having a total meltdown while you workout. All the fully trained instructor have got you covered.
That day, the mama’s got their amazing workout, kids got snacks, and everyone was able to make a fun Mother’s Day craft. At the end, everyone gathering around and waited for the raffle of gifts generously donated by local businesses. I felt blessed to be able to donate a full family session to one mama and her family. I cannot wait for their session coming up soon!
